Hogs can be fenced in with woven wire, a combination of woven and barbed wire, gate-type panels, or electric fencing. But woven wire, pictured here, is by far the best choice for perimeter and other permanent fences.

BARBED WIRE

Woven wire as a fencing medium can be enhanced and strengthened with the addition of four-point barbed wire. Positioning the woven wire 4 inches (10 cm) above the ground with a strand of barbed wire beneath it will create a longer-lasting fence line and one that will discourage hogs from rooting beneath it. Two more strands of barbed wire 4 and 8 inches (10 and 20 cm) above the woven wire will discourage jumping and make the fencing usable with other species of livestock as well.
